What bathroom remodeling costs you in decisions, not just money
Nearly every bathroom project in the Treasure Valley comes down to four decisions: whether the layout moves, whether the tub stays, how the shower is waterproofed, and how much of the existing plumbing and venting can be reused. Those four answers set the timeline, the permit path with your city or county, and the realistic budget range. Everything on this site is written to help you answer them before anyone quotes you.

How we plan an Idaho bathroom
Idaho homes, not generic plans
A 1940s North End bungalow, a 1990s Meridian tract home and a 2015 Kuna build each hide different problems behind the tile. We plan around the housing stock actually in front of us — joist direction, vent routing, slab or crawlspace, and the age of the supply lines.
Waterproofing before finishes
The part of a bathroom that determines whether it lasts is the part nobody sees. Pans, curbs, corners and penetrations get sorted before a single finished tile goes on, because that is the only stage where mistakes are cheap to fix.
Scope written down before pricing
You get a defined scope of work — what is being removed, what is being installed, what is being verified with the building authority — before numbers are attached to it. That is what makes an estimate comparable to another estimate.
One bathroom at a time
Bathrooms are the whole focus of this site: remodels, showers, tub conversions, accessibility and tile. That narrowness is the point — it is a small room with more trades per square foot than any other in the house.
Process
Four stages, in order
01
Conversation
You describe the room, the problems and what you want out of it. We ask the questions that change scope.
02
On-site assessment
Measurements, existing plumbing and venting, subfloor and framing condition, and access. Assumptions get replaced by facts.
03
Scope and estimate
A written scope with materials, sequence and any permit or inspection steps the local authority requires.
04
Build and hand back
Demolition through waterproofing, tile, fixtures and finish, with the room protected and the site cleaned as we go.

Canyon County's largest city, with a wide age range from downtown-era homes to fast new growth on the north and east sides.
Eagle
Ada County
Larger custom and semi-custom homes where the primary bathroom is generous and the project is about design quality, not square footage.
Kuna
Ada County
A rapidly expanding south Ada County city where most bathrooms are recent construction and the goal is upgrading a layout that was built to a budget.
Caldwell
Canyon County
An older Canyon County city with a substantial stock of pre-war and mid-century homes, alongside newer growth toward the interstate.
Star
Ada County
One of the fastest-growing small cities in the valley, with mostly recent construction and a mix of subdivision and acreage homes.
Garden City
Ada County
A compact city along the river inside the Boise metro, mixing older small homes, riverfront redevelopment and infill construction.

What Actually Drives Bathroom Remodel Cost in Idaho
Bathroom remodel cost is driven by decisions far more than by square footage. Moving plumbing, changing the layout, choosing a curbless entry, selecting large-format or natural stone tile, and whatever is found behind the walls are the variables that actually move a budget. We do not publish price ranges, because a number given before seeing the specific room is a guess presented as a quote.
Bathroom Remodel Permits in Ada and Canyon County
In the Boise metro, permits are generally triggered by the work rather than by the room: altering plumbing, altering or adding electrical circuits, and structural changes commonly require permits and inspections. Cosmetic replacement in place usually does not. Jurisdiction follows the address, and Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Caldwell and Garden City each administer their own — with Ada or Canyon County covering addresses outside city limits.
How Long a Bathroom Remodel Actually Takes
A bathroom remodel timeline is set by three things that cannot be compressed: material lead times, inspection stages, and cure or set times for mortar, waterproofing and grout. Everything else is scheduling. The fastest projects are the ones where every selection was made and every material delivered before demolition started.
Shower Waterproofing Systems, Explained
Tile and grout are not waterproof. Every durable tiled shower relies on a membrane behind or beneath the tile that carries water to the drain, and the shower's lifespan is decided by whether that membrane is continuous through every corner, curb, niche and drain connection. Which system is used matters less than whether one complete system was used correctly.
