Grab Bar Blocking and Placement Done Properly
A grab bar is only as good as what it is fastened to. Drywall anchors are not an acceptable anchorage for a bar meant to take a person's weight; the bar must reach solid blocking or framing. The practical implication is that the decision belongs at the framing stage — install continuous blocking across the shower and toilet walls, and the bar can go exactly where the person needs it, years later.
